The Belgian Society of Intensive Care (SIZ) came to know with great sadness about the unexpected passing of Prof Olivier Van Caenegem a few days ago.
Olivier was Professor at the UCLouvan since 2016 and led the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in the Cliniques Universitaires St Luc. Besides his interest in heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest and ECMO, his scientific activity, his involvement in different scientific societies in Belgium and Europe, Olivier was a very helpful and dedicated person, very much appreciated by his colleagues, friends and students.
The SIZ society would like to express its deepest sorrow to his family for this terrible loss.
