40th Anniversary Intensive Care Unit – UZ Brussels - October 12th, 2019 - UZ Brussel, Faculteit Geneeskunde en Farmacie, Laarbeeklaan 103, Jette, Belgium

This symposium will provide an overview of the evolution in intensive care medicine. The idea is to have sessions of 20 minutes where 2 opponents present each in a 10 minute talk (in der Beschränkung zeigt sich erst der Meister) the good things that happened in the last 40 years vs our mistakes or what is missing with respect to that topic. At the end of the session the speakers will participate in an interactive round table discussion with online voting to get the audience involved.

Will be discussed: Theoretical concepts, basic physiology and pathophysiology, monitoring, and future directions.
